Be part of the QinetiQ journey. Join us as an Associate Server Engineer at our Farnborough site where you will support in the upgrade and maintenance of Windows and Linux servers and clients on an exciting project distributing oceanographic and weather information.

 

The Role
As an Associate Server Engineer you'll have practical experience of installing and configuring Microsoft and Microsoft Hyper-V. Working under a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for the delivery of your own tasks and take responsibility for the task’s technical output, quality, and documentation, to ensure delivered solution, following the defined design process. 

 

  • You'll be at ease working within a small to medium sized team and be comfortable taking on new tasks outside of your existing skill set, as required by the business.
  • Be responsible for undertaking project work across the team as required – participation in reference groups, training and research on new functionality etc.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and advancements in information technology and upskill in any knowledge gaps i
  • Build and enhance relationships with peers and QinetiQ’s infrastructure services

 

This position is full-time and based on site in Farnborough. Willingness to travel within the UK travel to QinetiQ and Customer sites and potentially overseas but may be required. 

 

Essential experience of the Associate Server Engineer

  • Windows server and client build and configuration
  • Practical experience in Microsoft server and client implementation, configuration and testing (ideally holding Microsoft qualifications)
  • Practical experience of Windows Server Hypervisor (virtualisation), design, implementation, configuration and testing
  • Software scripting
  • Knowledge and experience of Linux administration (desirable)
  • Knowledge and experience of security and event monitoring tools administration (desirable)
  • Knowledge of MOD networks and systems (desirable)

 

Qualifications for the Associate Server Engineer
We don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience and willingness to upskill in any gaps in new technology /  technical knowledge and become certified, then we woudl love to hear from you.
