The Role
As a Bid Manager, the role will drive QinetiQ’s Business Winning approach to planning, preparing, writing and submitting bids which will deliver the aims of QinetiQ’s Business Winning strategy. The role is responsible for supporting the achievement of QinetiQ’s in year order intake by preparing bids in support of Foundation Sales and advancing the capture phase of campaigns in accordance with the ‘Key Accountabilities’ and consistent with the overarching campaign strategy

Day-to-day, you’ll be involved in the Pipeline Management, Bid Approval and Bid Progression stages, with Bids at a Category B level (£20million)

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Customer and Industry Relations: As part of the pursuit team support the opportunity lead in negotiations with potential partners and suppliers; provide supporting information, data and insight to the commercial lead to better position negotiations with the customer
  • Company Collaboration: Work across business and functional boundaries within QinetiQ to build and lead winning bid teams that produce compelling offers which meet and exceed customer expectations, and contribute to in-year order success and position for future order intake pipeline success
  • Professional Development: Demonstrate progression against the Business Winning Competency Framework addressing identified areas for development

Essential experience of the Bid Manager: 

  • Consistently demonstrates a good understanding of most competencies of the Business Winning Competency Framework, and capable of achieving all competencies through professional development
  • Leading, developing and submitting medium sized bids
  • Leading small teams of business winning professionals that span business and functional boundaries
  • Ability to make sound judgements and influence senior people

 

Essential qualifications for the Bid Manager:

  • Demonstrable management experience
  • Strong understanding and experience in Shipley or similar bidding models
  • Degree level educated or equivalent in relevant discipline
  • Appreciation of highly regulated sectors, such as Defence, Aerospace and Civil markets

This role is 37 hours per week and is fully remote with the occasional visit to a QinetiQ site as and when required.
