Business Development Manager

Role Purpose

Lead Business Development activities in the allocated segment of UK Land domain including the generation of business, translating business opportunities into profitable and VFM solutions.  Own all opportunity identification, qualification and pursuit activity.  Provide timely market intelligence through networking with customers and strategic partners to foster relationships that will assure the delivery of orders and future growth as declared in the business plan.  Maintain all opportunity data within the opportunities database.  Collaborative in nature, be able to work internally with others in the rest of QinetiQ to define the sales strategy and build larger opportunities, actively contributing to regular opportunities forecasting.  Ensure bids released are timely, have been competitively priced using industry standard techniques and company guidelines.  Be prepared to act as Capture Manager for specific opportunities when required.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications

1.    Previous demonstrable experience in a sales/business development role.

2.    A good working knowledge of current UK MoD practices and processes, organisations and priorities, particularly in Land & Weapons areas.

3.    An understanding of sales competencies and tools, best practice and current thinking regarding effective and commercially sound sales strategies

4.    Experienced at managing relationships and conflicting priorities at working level 

5.    Knowledge of challenges and changes in the land & weapons sector and how they may relate to QinetiQ

6.    Ability use multiple sources of information to evaluate situations to drive the best possible outcome.
