Title: Deputy Marketing and Communications Manager - Fixed Term Contract

The Deputy Marketing and Communications Manager will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing integrated external marketing and communications strategies that support the UK Intelligence Sector goals and align to QinetiQ’s Marketing and Communications strategy. The role is critical to the successful management of the UK Intelligence Sector’s reputation with key stakeholders. The role holder will report to the UK Intelligence Sector Marketing and Communications Lead within the Sector Growth function. They will work closely with colleagues from across the Sector and Group Marketing and Communications team to promote the Sector and QinetiQ.
The role holder will also be responsible for measuring outcomes and identifying areas for improvement.
Key Accountabilites
- Plan, develop and implement external marketing and communications strategies and tactics for the UK Intelligence Sector that raise awareness of QinetiQ’s products, services and expertise, working closely with key stakeholders to ensure they contribute towards Sector and Company goals.
- Improve the impact and reach of external marketing and communications through a multi-channel approach, building on growth in digital media, ensuring a content first approach to build awareness, strengthen the brand and protect reputation.
- Actively find and develop UK Intelligence news stories that can be used to promote Sector and the Company
- Work closely with customers to ensure effective management and approval of activities related to sites managed by QinetiQ on behalf of the MOD.
- Identify and partner with colleagues in the function to deliver thought leadership content that aligns with key priorities.
- Responsible for reporting on campaign results against pre-defined KPI’s
- Work with the UK Intelligence Sector Marketing and Communications Lead to support a culture of continual improvement, making use of external best practice to drive marketing and communications campaigns.
- Work with the UK Intelligence Sector Marketing and Communications Lead to manage agencies and partners where required.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues from other Sectors or the Group team to deliver cross Sector/Group activities
Key Capabilities/Knowledge
- Integrated marketing and communications experience, with demonstrable content creation skills across multiple digital and social media platforms.
- Strategic planning experience (leading and doing)
- A high level of organisational ability and experience of working independently to effectively manage multiple projects and take decisions
- Strong experience – working in complex markets and being able to simplify
- Be comfortable working with and influencing senior internal stakeholders and key external customers
- Experience of complex stakeholder management
- Demonstrate ability to work at pace with attention to detail – accelerating progress to deliver accurately against tight timescales.
- Team player who can demonstrate collaboration
- Excellent communicator with good writing skills
Experience & Qualifications
- Strong marketing and communications expertise with demonstrable track record/ability to deliver
- Demonstrable creative record
- Degree level educated or equivalent working experience
- Experience of working with senior leaders in a strategic advisory role
