Role Purpose:

The role of the IT Network Engineer within IT Operations support Services is primarily responsible for the Operational support and maintenance to WAN, LAN and Voice services across all QinetiQ sites and cloud based services to ensure the continual improvement of operational effectiveness and efficiency. Support is in collaboration with the Tier 1 and Tier 3 support teams. Occasionally engineers will be required to assist operational teams in problem management across the same technical space.

 

Key Accountabilities to Aspire to:

  • Support the Tier 2 support Team Lead for Network Operations in the delivery of IT Network services to QinetiQ across WAN, LAN and Voice services across all QinetiQ sites and cloud based services. 
  • Collaborate across Operational support teams to develop solutions and services aligned to QinetiQ’s strategies and requirements.
  • Ensure that IT network documentation is maintained and configuration records for all Network Systems is up to date at point of deployment
  • Working alongside Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams and Solutions Architects on the development and delivery of IT solutions to the highest professional standards aligned to both IT and business requirements.
  • Identify and develop methods and procedures to improve security and data privacy within the remit of the deliverable portfolio of solutions
  • Apply an approach of “automate first” when developing and implementing IT solutions
  • If required act as an escalation point on incidents and problems.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Must have attained or be predicted, 5 GCSE's A*-C, 5-9 must include English Language, Maths, Technology & ICT and 2 other subjects
  • The Ability to obtain a Full driving licence in the future
