The Role
As a Media Relations Associate, you’ll have a role that is out of the ordinary. You will have the opportunity to enhance QinetiQ’s media presence by crafting compelling narratives and fostering strong relationships with journalists, ultimately elevating the company’s reputation, and ensuring our strategic objectives resonate with key stakeholders.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll collaborate with internal teams to source positive stories and ensure timely communication that aligns with QinetiQ’s strategic goals. You’ll develop and implement media strategies, create engaging content for various channels and support the execution of media campaigns. Daily tasks will include drafting press releases, managing social media posts, building relationships with journalists, and analysing content performance.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing media strategies to enhance QinetiQ’s reputation
  • Creating and editing engaging content for press releases, blogs, social media, and internal communications
  • Managing relationships with journalists and facilitating effective communication during press releases and media campaigns
  • Collaborating with various sectors to identify and develop positive news stories that align with company goals
  • Analysing content performance and reports to continuously improve engagement outcomes
  • Overseeing the timely publication of content across all communication channels, ensuring alignment with brand standards and best practises
     

Essential experience of the Media Relations Associate:

  • Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships
  • Experience in working with external agencies, contractors, and content producers to deliver high quality communications
  • Proficiency in editing and updating digital content across intranet, web, and social media platforms, along with analysing performance metrics
  • Strong understanding of media relations and news production processes

 

Essential qualifications for the Media Relations Associate:

  • A degree in communications, journalism, marketing or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Previous experience in corporate communications, public relations, or journalism

This role is 37 hours per week based at Farnborough. Hybrid working patterns available.
