The role
As a Programme Controller, you’ll be responsible for leading controls disciplines for a Business area within UK Defence PMO, ensuring consistency is delivered in this area across all projects and programmes.
Day-to-day, you will build a team of competent controllers and promote the work of the PMO. You will provide controls services to a high and consistent standard, ensure effective and efficient data management to feed consistent reporting across the sector and at all levels. You will integrate controllers into projects, programmes and bids to achieve effective and efficient delivery in order to achieve profitable growth.
- Capability: Responsible for implementing and operating the strategy for their professional capability in line with the UK Defence and PMO requirements
- Technical Expertise: Significant knowledge of the development and delivery of complex project controls (reporting, monitoring and control) using proprietary tools, specifically PPM2016 and SAP – to enable the successful delivery of Projects and Programmes.
- Customer: Develop key relationships with customers (Internal/External), to enable their profession’s capability to meet future customer and business needs.
- Build a team with the right skills and competencies to meet current and future demands in order to deliver excellent results to customers and predictable outcomes for QinetiQ.
- Systems, Tools and Processes: To develop with the business appropriate systems, tools and processes to allow cost effective and efficient work practices.
- Services: Provision of effective and efficient Controls services to the assigned Business.
This role is full-time, with an adaptive working arrangement.
Essential experience of the Project Controls Manager
- Able to quickly recognise interventions needed to drive change and performance
- Experience of developing and functionally managing others and building effective teams
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
- Demonstrable experience working on a diverse range of projects and programme
Proven leadership and capability development in project organisations to meet specific objectives - Director level stakeholder engagement and leadership (both within and external to QinetiQ) to ensure successful delivery of complex projects and programmes
- MAPM or commitment to become so
Qualifications for the Project Controls Manager
- Prince2 Qualification, desirable
