What I'll Be doing:

  • The role is accountable for providing a best in class procurement delivery service in support of Weapons Sector Research Framework (WSRF) for QinetiQ.  
  • The Supply Chain Manager will support the WSRF Programme team in providing the MoD customer with best-in class supply chain management support.  The Supply Chain Manager will provide advice-side support to the customer, and to the QinetiQ WSRF Programme Manager, on risks and opportunities on matters related to the supplier performance.  
  • The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for executing the timely delivery of WSRF Taskings and be responsible for driving the identification of Risk and Opportunities, and for working collaboratively with key stakeholders within the business to execute the procurement strategy for the full range of procurement projects. 
  • The Supply Chain Manager will ideally have knowledge in defence but preferable in the Weapons domain. 

 

What I'll Need

  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in order to influence behaviours and ensure appropriate levels of assurance to the customer and to QinetiQ.   
  • Maintain awareness of the restrictions, controls and accreditations that are placed upon suppliers working in a Defence environment, ensuring at all times that the incumbent supplier base do not jeopardise or threaten internal compliance. 
  • Efficient & effective management of supply chain contractual obligations, KPI’s and deliveries in support of WSRF.
  • To support the supplier and customer on the agreed delivery plan and where appropriate, liaise with the QQ WSRF Programme Manager on issues for escalation 
  • Report on supplier performance results at WSRF Stakeholder reviews and meetings 
  • Provide liaison management on GFA availability assumptions between the customer and all stakeholders  
  • Manage supply chain risk, contingency arrangements (in case of failure) and report to the WSRF QQ Programme Manager
  • Manage a programme of continuous improvement through a robust Supplier Relationship Management approach to optimise supplier value.
  • Understand, monitor, manage disputes and escalate issues against the supplier(s) deliver plan, including mitigating impacts on milestones through stakeholder engagement and scheduled diarised reviews (to include logistics and material supply)
  • Ensure compliance with process, governance and controls as agreed in the Procurement Code of Practice.
  • Collaboratively develop plans with key stakeholders to ensure alignment of targets, improve supplier performance, and implement continuous improvement plans across spend.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Proven contract negotiation and stakeholder influencing skills
  • Demonstrable experience of the full sourcing process; from design through to execution  
  • Degree in a Business or Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
  • CIPS Qualified or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years in a Procurement or Supply Chain related role
  • Preference for Weapons or Defence related experience.
