The Role
As a Programme Manager reporting to the National Security Advisory Services Business Lead, you will lead a portfolio of work that includes a mix of research, technical and business consultancy and framework management:

 

  • Delivering portfolio outcomes (customer satisfaction, orders, revenue, margin)
  • Leading engagement with customers, partners and suppliers
  • Ensuring suitable governance and controls are in place to manage risk; always conscious of operating in a Safe & Secure manner
  • Leading resource planning – managing demand forecasts, supporting recruitment and retention plans, and making prioritisation decisions
  • Ensuring accurate management information is generated, maintained and reported

 

This position is full time, based at our office on the Albert Embankment, with an adaptive working arrangement:  a mix of office, WFH and regular visits to client-sites, which are in close proximity to the  office.

 

Esssential skills and experience of the Programme Manager

  • Experience leading portfolios, programmes or complex projects to different customers
  • Delivery of technology focused research and solutions
  • Understanding of Defence and National Security industries
  • Use of P3M and business management software/data to drive decision-making and achieve successful outcomes; therefore experienced in making trade-off decisions to balance cost/schedule/scope
  • Stakeholder Management; ability to manage a breadth of internal and external relationships; being able to identify, plan and implement actions to positively engage parties with an interest in, or influence over, the portfolio outcomes
  • Leadership; leading multi-disciplinary teams; being able to create an environment where a group of people with diverse personalities, skills, experiences and perspectives are empowered to collaborate towards a common goal
  • Human Resource Management; supporting functional teams (including HR) to develop and manage our people in line with legal requirements and QinetiQ policy
  • Commercial Management; able to identify and apply different contracting approaches; understanding of commercial risks and methods to mitigate them
  • Business Development; building trusted relationships that enable follow-on sales to be generated and new leads to be identified; ability to understand our customer’s challenges.

 

Qualifications of the Programme Manager
