About the role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Cloud Architect who will design new systems, integrate and update current systems, decommission existing systems. They will help achieve architectural standards, creating reusable patterns, help to shape principles throughout the QinetiQ IT UK corporate estate and on client side projects.

What do you need?

You’ll need experience in some of the following areas would be desirable, but not essential.

Required Skills - All

  • Extensive experience in as a Cloud Architect
  • Be able to translate a design into a set of delivery activities
  • Ability to hand activities off to engineering teams for implementation, whilst providing architectural oversight and governance
  • Experience of legacy architecture
  • Understanding of how to apply future trends and technology
  • Self-organising and self-managing, self-starting
  • Familiar with Agile methodology and tooling
  • Detailed knowledge of change management and governance
  • Ability to produce formal technical documentation
  • Detailed knowledge / experience of:
    • AWS
    • Designing Public Cloud infrastructure
    • The full system lifecycle including CI/CD processes
    • Taking advantage of cloud-native services

What will I be doing?

As a Principal Cloud Architect, you will:

 

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert within Cloud Architecture
  • Setting architectural standards, creating reusable patterns, help to shape principles.
  • Be able to design new systems, integrate and update current systems, decommission existing systems
  • Be able to build working relationships with different parts of the business and manage stakeholders
  • Act as a consultant and advisor when working with business areas, to lead work streams and take systems through accreditation processes
  • Take complex requirements and turning into designs (ADD, HLD, LLD)
  • Work out BoEs and BoMs for the solutions you design
  • Have excellent organizational and communication skills
