QTS is a world-leading provider of unmanned air surface vehicle targets for live-fire training and weapon system test and evaluation. They design and develop threat-representative targets and special mission platforms at their manufacturing facilities in Ashford, Kent, UK and Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada
The Marketing Manager will have the responsibility to develop, identify and carry out all marketing requirements. Providing strategic support to the QTS business to produce and deliver marketing and communications plans that help shape and drive business growth. This position will also be responsible for all content on the QTS website and update product information and capabilities on a regular basis. This position will report to the QTS Business Development Director.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop, manage, and execute marketing and communications plans.
- Provide support and advice for all internal/external communications including providing best practice on using Global Portal/QTS homepage across both QTS businesses.
- Responsible for all proactive media relations for area, including press releases, media events and hosting interviews with trade and specialist media.
- Development of marketing strategy and plans including audience understanding and proposition development based on commercial objectives that leads to generation of new business pipeline and lead pipeline.
- Responsible for strategic briefing of the wider team (digital, design, research & events)
- The sourcing of customer delivery stories that can be used both internally and externally and develop associated content (written and multimedia)
- Work with the QQ Digital Team to deploy content through the website and digital channels.
- Ensure all content, messaging and collateral aligns to QinetiQ messaging and represents the brand in the most effective way.
- Events – Organise and attend events where required and help with creating messages and collateral.
- Keep up to date with the latest trends in marketing, sharing this with the wider team to continuously improve engagement.
- Support other business delivery units within QTS as directed by BD Director
Key Capabilities/Knowledge
- Defence marketing and communications experience
- All round marketing communications capabilities (advertising, social media, event planning, sales tools, direct marketing, and content creation)
- Strategic planning experience (leading not just doing)
- A high level of organisational ability and experience of working independently.
- Strong B2B experience – working in complex markets and being able to key offerings.
- Ability to develop strong rapport and maintain relationships with customers/internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience of complex stakeholder management
- A good balance between strategy planning and hands on delivery
- Creative ‘outside of the box’ thinking.
- Team player with demonstrable collaboration skills
- Excellent communicator with outstanding writing skills
- Ability to influence at a senior level and the confidence to have difficult conversations.
- Experience of working in communications, preferably both internal and external
- Excellent understanding of using audience understanding and data to shape/influence/amend/optimise plans.
- Ability to multitask to prioritise work and deliver to challenging deadlines, with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
Experience & Qualifications
- Related degree and/or equivalent working experience
- Strong B2B marketing and communications expertise with demonstrable track record/ability to deliver.
- Experience of working with senior leaders in a strategic advisory role
- Experience of managing external agencies, contractors, designers, and content producers
- Experience of editing and updating web content and analysing web analytics
- Experience of deploying social media campaigns
- Experience of testing messaging and campaign activity to improve engagement.
