Our newly established Sector brings growth and opportunity. One such opportunity is the newly created role of Head of Trade Compliance.
Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, as our new Head of Trade Compliance you will lead the transformation, integration and delivery of the Trade Compliance function within the Australia Sector which comprises of various QinetiQ business entities within Australia, Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom. In terms of location, whilst we would prefer that the role is based in Melbourne or Nowra, Australia. Applicants based in locations where there are other QinetiQ sites may be considered, providing that applicants can demonstrate detailed knowledge of Australian and US export regulations.
Through direct and indirect line management and working closely with the Australia Sector Commercial & Supply Chain leadership and the Group Trade Compliance team, you’ll support the Australia Sector to:
- Develop and implement the approved Sector transformation and integration Trade Compliance roadmap so as to ensure that the Australia Sector is capable of enacting best practice Trade compliance processes, decision-making and export/import management
- Deliver high quality, innovative and intelligence led Trade Compliance activity for the Sector, ensuring the correct deployment of resources to meet all customer and internal requirements, and ensuring a consistently high standard of performance is expected and achieved from all Trade Compliance staff across multiple geographical locations
- Provide subject matter expertise in relation to Australian, UK, US and other international export and import controls
- Monitor Trade Compliance developments and provide market intelligence to internal key stakeholders to support strategic planning and project delivery.
- Liaise with Australian Government departments, networking internally and externally to drive the business forward to meet export and import requirements
- Report and investigate incidents of non-compliance and provide oversight and support for regulatory audits
- Evaluate and develop Australia Sector Trade Compliance competence and professional standards to meet business requirements and growth aspiration; team and individual.
As our ideal applicant, you’ll present with:
- Proven experience and knowledge of international Trade Compliance practices and theory, gained in either legal and/or compliance roles with a primary focus on trade compliance
- Knowledge and understanding of, and experience in implementing Australian and US export controls (military and dual use)
- Experience operating within Defence and technology markets
- Experience in leading integration and transformation of people, processes and systems
- Well-developed leadership, influencing, communication and interpersonal skills
- A willingness to travel, as required
Due to the nature of the role, applicants must also be eligible for Australian Defence security clearance.
