An opportunity now exists to join our close-knit People team. This role will be offered on a 12-month maximum term basis to provide cover for one of our team members who is joining an internal project. In terms of location, we’re happy for this role to be based in either Melbourne or Canberra.
What will I do?
Great question! You’ll join our People Operations team – the central ‘heartbeat’ and the ‘front-door’ of the QinetiQ People team. People Operations are our systems gurus, employee lifecycle management masters and HR data integrity experts. The team provide advisory and operational coverage across the People function as required, including front‑line query resolution, onboarding/offboarding support, and maintenance of accurate employee records to ensure consistent, compliant People service delivery. As an Advisor in the team, your role will be oriented towards enquiry resolution and provision of advice but you’ll also lean in to support HR administration/operations tasks to cover periods of leave of other team members or to cover peak workload periods.
What will I need?
- Solid HR generalist capability with proven experience providing practical, risk‑aware people advice across the employee lifecycle, with a focus on guidance and problem‑solving
- An ability to build trust quickly and manages expectations whilst delivering balanced, commercially sensible advice
- Solid working knowledge of employment legislation including employment law, awards and policies, with the ability to translate requirements into clear, practical advice
- An ability to work autonomously and confidence to own matters independently whilst knowing when escalation is appropriate
- Skill at managing multiple advisory matters simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment
- Comfort working with HR information systems and contributing to process improvements (exposure to SuccessFactors is highly desirable but not essential)
- Superior organisation abilities, attention to detail and can-do attitude along with a strong team orientation and a willingness to roll-up your sleeves to ensure seamless service delivery
