Applications are invited from seasoned Defence security professionals for a new role in our Security team. Reporting to the Chief Security Officer, you will be responsible, as part of a team, for the security posture, arrangements and security culture across the Australian business. The role is also accountable for ensuring the maintenance of security functions within the Australian business is pivotal in ensuring compliance with QinetiQ global, Australian Government, and Defence security requirements, while strengthening security culture and maintaining our Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) membership.
In more specific terms, as the Security Manager, you will:
- Shape and deliver security policies, governance, and assurance frameworks aligned with QinetiQ Group (global) and DISP requirements
- Support the business in achieving strategic security objectives and embedding best practice
- Lead key security functions, including risk registers and risk mitigation activities, audit actions and compliance reporting and governance policies and frameworks
- Produce monthly security KPI and security risk reporting
- Oversee security vetting processes, including Designated Security Assessed Positions (DSAP) register and compliance reporting and oversight
- Act as a subject matter expert providing guidance to business units and project teams
- Deliver training, mentoring, and capability uplift to regional Security Officers
- Serve as the Security contact for Australian input into governance forums, including the Security & Information Council and Risk & Security Committee
- Drive strong security culture and protect the organisation’s reputation with customers, regulators, and stakeholders
Whilst this role has no direct reports, it is unmistakingly a specialist, senior and national role.
About You:
You are a strategic yet hands-on security professional with strong experience operating in the Australian Defence sector. You bring a proactive mindset and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels in addition to:
- A deep knowledge of AGSVA security vetting processes and a strong understanding DISP certification requirements
- Demonstrated experience working with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) and the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM)
- Experience working with Australian Government security doctrine and regulatory bodies, ASIO Technical Notes, AS/NZS 4360 Risk Management and Australian Privacy Principles
Whilst not essential, a Diploma of Government Security & Risk Management will be highly regarded.
Due to the nature of the role, applicants must hold a current Defence Security Clearance to at least NV1 level and be eligible for higher levels of clearance.
