About the role

 

Here at QinetiQ we have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Team leader to join us and take on responsibility for leading the operations of the Pendine Range.

MOD Pendines site comprises land-based ranges with an area of 20.5km². It has various enclosed tunnel ranges, a 9km shoreline suitable for aircraft landing training sorties, a large sea danger area extending approximately 18km², airspace up to 23,000ft, and a high tidal range of up to 8metres. The 1,500 metre long test track facility is suitable for dynamic testing of warheads, precision ground attack systems and missile components, enabling trials of systems up to Mach 3, with accelerations of up to 130g.

What will I be doing?

 

As the Operations Team Leader you will be responsible for all day to day operational activities across the site, ensuring that all activities are properly scheduled, planned, resourced and conducted appropriately.

The role reports directly to the Group Leader / Head of Site.

 

Key Accountabilities:
 

  • Responsible for ensuring that all operational elements are brought to bear to deliver the right level of resource to the various activities relating to Pendine Range.
  • Responsible for ensuring, with the Engineering Manager, that facilities and equipment are fit for use.
  • Will develop an effective environment that facilitates vibrant and collaborative working on site in line with QinetiQ behaviours and values.
  • Responsible for ensuring a smooth transition to organisational models, leading members through change.
  • Will either have a broad range of expertise in operations management or be a specialist in a particular type of facility operation pertinent to the post.
  • Responsible for maintaining and developing the capability and competency, so that customer demands are met. The role holder will develop an internal and industry network to enable transfer of best practice into their team.

• Excellent delivery skillset and operational leadership experience
• Operational/Facility Management
• Understanding of how to apply many and varied rules and regulations
• A respected leader across the appropriate community
• Experienced in providing advice, assurance and best practice into businesses and functions
• Experience of developing others and building effective teams
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to quickly understand the broad and diverse operating domains that the team supports and the implications to the development and sustainment of capability

Experience & Qualifications:
• Experience of operationally leading a facility
• Leadership and capability development of teams to meet specific objectives
• Experience in stakeholder engagement
• Knowledge of the type of facility that the post applies to.
