About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic RF Safety Engineer to join the QinetiQ Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) team who will be instrumental in facilitating the evaluation of the EMF safety for many systems and trials across a number of different QinetiQ sites. You will be part of a small team of experts who provide the advice, support and guidance to project teams and the facilities to ensure that QinetiQ meets its legislative requirements for both EMF workers and the public.


This can be the perfect opportunity for an engineer looking to progress into more of a senior / leadership role.


This interesting role also provides the opportunity to act as the EMF site safety advisor for a small number of sites that will involve offering ongoing advice and direction to the heads of these sites or on a project by project basis.


People development is core to what we do so whilst the Safety Engineer will join the EMF team, it is part of a larger RF Group within QinetiQ involved in a breadth of activities involving RF design, test, and evaluation that presents the opportunity for wider learning and development alongside the core role.


What do I need?


  • The Safety Engineer should have some experience and knowledge of RF.
  • You should have an awareness of Systems or Safety Engineering.


What will I be doing?


  • You will lead the production of EMF hazard assessments to enable safe systems of operation of RF systems on complex sites.
  • The Safety Engineer will have the opportunity to lead a small project team, including technical oversight and day to day tasking.
  • You will be working with the Team Lead to ensure that tasks are scheduled with the correct resource in place.
  • The Safety Engineer will be responsible for the production and upkeep of EMF management plans for each site.
  • You will be giving advice to project and facility teams to cover all aspects of RF emission on the sites.
  • The Safety Engineer will be acting as the EMF site safety advisor for a small number of sites, reporting to the heads of site.
