Maintenance Scheduler

The National Maritime Systems Centre (NMSC) provides a mechanism whereby new or upgraded military maritime equipment is tested and integrated into the Combat System under a contract agreement with the MoD.  The contract requires equipment to be installed or modified to meet the trials requirements for future systems. On completion, equipment is de-installed and either returned to Naval Stores or disposed as agreed with MoD, through the approved disposal route as required by current legislation. The Facility Scheduler is part of the Facility Team and will support the scheduling of the installations and maintenance activities as required by the Facility Operations Manager.

 

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Working with the Facility Operations Manager and the Installation Manager you will be responsible for creating and updating the overall Facility schedule of installations  - ‘The Installation Plan on a Page’ and maintenance activities.
  2. Maintain the schedule ensuring it accurately reflects the most up to date information. Ensure that before an entry is made in the schedule, all meta data is provided, i.e. CRM Number, Sales/PM/BM & Customer POC and Activity Event Type.
  3. Identify where changes to plans (e.g. fewer or more days) would contribute to a smoother schedule and communicate to the SIF Operations Manager and the Installation Manager.
  4. Escalate to the Facility Operations Manager and the Installation Manager if the schedule is affected significantly by customer requirements.
  5. Maintain a database of schedule variation (Trial Movements and Cancellations) and the reasons for this i.e. Customer has rearranged a number of trials due to ammunition availability.  Themes will be identified and their impact will be quantified and shared with Facility Operations Manager and the Installation Manager.
  6. Ensure that suitable data is recorded and regularly reported through relevant meetings to inform Key Performance Indicators and associated metrics.
  7. Review and update the Facility Gantts with the latest demand signal on a monthly basis and report results at the monthly Facility reviews.
  8. Work closely with Trials Manager and relevant Team Leads to develop and maintain a detailed resource load and update into the Facility Gantts and schedule. Compare the actual work performed against the baseline programme and report into the monthly Facility Review
  9. To assist the function of the Facility pass office when other staff are on leave.
  10. To assist in the function of booking Facility Trials when staff are on leave.

 

Technical Skills

Communication - Able to communicate technical concepts clearly and simply to a customer base ranging from novice to expert.

Methodical – ensures process is followed, can design and improve process, can design and implement configuration management.

Good IT skills knwoedge and practical experience of using excel in particular.
