About the role

 

Primarily based at QinetiQ operated MoD Hebrides Range, The Electronics Technician will form part of a small deployed team living and working on the remote island of St Kilda. You will work a four week on / four week off shift pattern and while on shift will be responsible for all planned and responsive maintenance along with operational support of all electronic equipment on site.

 

In addition to your primary job responsibilities, you will also be required to support a wide variety of tasks in support of the St Kilda facilities that enable yearlong presence on a self-sufficient facility. A positive attitude towards all Range tasks and any other site duties is required.

 

Primary systems include:

 

  • Marine and Air surveillance radars.
  • VHF / UHF radio communications systems.
  • Tracking radars.
  • Telemetry systems.
  • Cross-site data links and networks.

 

What do I need?

 

  • You should have some experience and knowledge in Electronics Engineering.
  • It is desirable for you to have experience in one of the Primary Systems listed above.

 

What will I be doing?

 

  • The Electronics Technician conduct of planned and reactive maintenance in accordance with the company engineering policy and Air Publications.
  • You will be monitoring of Range systems in support of operational activities.
  • The Electronics Technician will be reporting of all defects which affect equipment availability.
  • You will be accurate record keeping for all tasks undertaken.
  • The Electronics Technician will be assisting with general duties associated with the site daily operation and facilities maintenance.
  • You will maintain a personal record of competence and currency.
