About the role

 

We are currently recruiting for an Equipment and Maintenance Lead to join QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) within our Field Services Team.  QTS is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC, specialising in the design and manufacture of a range of state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems, including the world-leading Banshee target.

 

QTS targets are used to enable realistic weapons test and evaluation and operator training in over 40 countries worldwide, with QTS providing a complete managed service in over 15 of these countries.

What will I be doing?

 

Reporting to the Head of Field Services, you will ensure that Field Services equipment is managed and maintained regardless of location.

 

Duties will include:

 

  • Assisting the field services manager and team leaders to plan and deploy relevant equipment to support Field Services deployments.
  • In conjunction with the Field Services manager, plan, and order relevant equipment to support Field Services deployments,
  • Manage and oversee the Field services stores lead.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement across all areas.
  • Plan and conduct a scheduled maintenance program on all Field Services equipment if and when required.
  • Plan, where necessary, maintenance tasks and ensure team members are trained in appropriate aspects of system maintenance.
  • Plan and conduct a scheduled calibration program on all Field Services equipment if and when required.
  • Collate and maintain records of the maintained and calibrated suite of field services equipment.
  • Manage and support the business with all aspects of the CONVEY app and all QTS vehicles.
  • Raise any Health and Safety concerns with the responsible person.
  • Gain a high level of aerial and surface target systems knowledge and be able to form part of an overseas deployment when necessary. 
  • Support the department in any facility and security needs as required.

 

 

What do I need?

 

You will have experience of working in an operational environment and a full UK driving licence / HGV licence.

 

You’ll have good IT skills and be calm and able to work under pressure. 

 

We also ask that you:

 

  • have the ability to work autonomously and reactively to changing requirements
  • are a good communicator, both written and oral
  • are an excellent team player who is enthusiastic and committed to the role / team
  • have an Engineering HND / HNC or relevant apprenticeship, or equivalent experience

 

It would be an advantage if you have domain knowledge of unmanned aerial targets, including sea and land targets, and their control systems.
