Our Flight Systems capability conducts hazard based Evaluation & Test of Mechanical and Integrated Electrical Power Systems on a wide variety of aircraft platforms to ensure the equipment and systems are safe for flight, as well as being fit for purpose. Evaluations are conducted on Transport, Combat, Helicopter and Un-manned Air platforms.

 

The Role
As a Senior Mechanical / Electrical Engineer  - Aerospace you will have a role that is out of the ordinary, where you will be responsible for the efficient, safe and effective conduct of specific evaluation, test and / or trial activities. This will typically encompass Air platform Certification, Qualification, Performance, Operability and Safety in the role domains. 

 

  • You will provide specialist scientific or technical advice and / or consultation. Tasks encompass the project lifecycle from technical strategy through to delivery, as part of multidisciplinary teams, requiring solution definition effort and will be delivered in accordance with the associate Project Delivery Plan.
  • You will typically undertake a range of evaluations encompassing single equipment or role related changes to a platform, through to the assessment of newly introduced aircraft and deliver technical hazard and risk based reporting.

 

This role is full-ime, 37-hours per week, and can be based at either Bristol, Salisbury, Waddington or Warton. We offer Hybrid Working Options, with a minimum of two days per week to be spent onsite. 

 

Skills and experience of the Senior Mechanical / Electrical Engineer  - Aerospace
The Skills, Knowledge and Experience of Aerospace Mechanical and Integrated Electrical Power Systems, equivalent to Incorporated or Chartered Engineer level. Specific experience of some, but not all of the following: Electrical Power Generation and Distribution, Electrical Wiring Interconnection, Environmental Control, Escape, Flying Controls, Fuel, Hydraulics, Oxygen, Propulsion (including integration and engine life management), Role Equipment, Undercarriage and Warning systems.

 

Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience of the Senior Mechanical / Electrical Engineer  - Aerospace

  • Systems / Platform integration and operability at a platform level;
  • Systems performance in the operation context, e.g. weather extremes, rough field;
  • Military or civil aircraft;
  • Independent Technical Evaluation, Evaluation and Test or Independent Safety Audit;
  • Aircraft / Air Platform Certification, Qualification, either Military (MAA) or Civil (CAA / EASA);
  • Aircraft / Air Platform Regulatory & Legal Compliance;
  • Military or Civil Safety Regulations & Standards.

 

Opportunities are available at Engineer through Principal Engineer levels, noting that at the senior levels increasing evidence of the skills, knowledge and experience expected of a Chartered Engineer should be evident.

 

Qualifications of the Senior Mechanical / Electrical Engineer  - Aerospace

  • Suitably qualified Aerospace or Mechanical Engineer (HNC or HND), nationally recognised 9EngTech / IEng) or working towards that accreditation. You should have significant on the job experience working in the Aerospace Engineering domain.
  • Chartered Engineer with a first degree in Science or Engineering in a related subject, preferably Aeronautical and / or Mechanical Engineering (desirable)
