Be part of the QinetiQ journey. We have a requirement for a Principal Data Architect to own the strategic vision for QinetiQ’s global corporate IT estate, setting the strategic vision for the IT estate within a new organisation called The Digital and Data Design Authority.
 
The Role
As a Principal Data Architect, you'll be responsible for setting the vision and guiding the structure implementation of the group’s data architectures to support our transformation. You will be working within the Digital and Data Design Authority team operating within the Enterprise Architecture team making sense of the data elements within QinetiQ, driving the company to make use of the strategic asset in a way never done before. The role is to clearly understand the global information and data stores and flows, how they enable and help deliver business capabilities, translating to principles policies, guidelines, standards and requirements suitable to be handed.

 

Key Accountabilities
1.    Develop the strategic approach to data architecture to underpin operational the growth of the company (both operational efficiencies and data exploitation)
2.    Contribute to, and deliver the group data strategy.
3.    Develop and maintain the QinetiQ Group Data Architecture with a focus on corporate data.
4.    Develop the information Taxonomy and MDM an Information Handling model for QinetiQ.
5.    Map, understand and optimise information flows within the QinetiQ organisation.
6.    Establish processes to allow sharing of information between different environments.
7.    Develop new information architectures in response to changes in business need or the implementation of new technology.
8.    be accountable for assuring data models at enterprise and sector level.

 

Skills and Experience of the Principal Data Architect
•    Experience being able to map, understand and optimise information flow within the organisation and how it interfaces with partners and customers.
•    The ability to develop information handling and data exchange models whilst developing new strategic initiatives, customer relationships and enhancing pre-existing initiatives and relationships.
•    The ability to work autonomously, within a team and other enterprise architects.
•    Previous experience working in IT architecture backed up with experience working within a Global IT environment. 
•    Experience in gathering & cataloguing information related to application functions, technology functions, applications, general technologies and other information related to the enterprise landscape.

 

Qualifications for the Principal Data Architect
Qualified to degree level (or equivalent) or able to provide evidence of equivalent relevant technical experience.
 
The successful candidate will be able to achieve SC Clearance and be willing to potentially go through DV Clearance.
