This is an exciting phase in our history and we are looking for an experienced Electrical/Electronics Technician, based in Port Melbourne that will see you working within our Engineering Services division.   

 

As the Electrical/Electronics Technician, your key responsibilities will include, but not limited to;

 

  • Assembly, test, fault finding and integration of mechanical and/or electronic systems for defence use
  • Integration of trial assemblies to platforms
  • Assembling and installing electrical and electronic systems in a range of equipment using 12v and 230v systems
  • Performing electronic diagnostics and fault finding
  • Conduct maintenance, repair and overhaul of QinetiQ products and assemblies
  • Support QA of material and sub-assemblies (inwards and outwards)
  • Performing function and end of line checks and tests
  • Provide input into new product development and installation guides
  • Provide input into operating and maintenance documentation

 

To be successful in the role of Electrical/Electronics Technician, you will need demonstrated experience, knowledge & skills in the following areas:

 

  • Automotive, Aerospace and/or Robotic electrical experience within a defence environment
  • Mechanical aptitude during assembly work
  • Ability to work in a changing environment both forward on customer test/range environments and within a workshop environment
  • Computer and IT literate proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • A strong customer focus and be driven to achieve agreed targets
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience interpreting and working with CAD models and design tools (Preferred but not essential)
  • Defence experience (Preferred but not essential)

 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum certificate III in electro technology, communications, electrical or electro-mechanical systems
  • IPC Certified (600/610/620) (Preferred but not essential)

 

 

Candidates will be required to obtain an Australian Government secret clearance which will require Australian citizenship. QinetiQ conducts pre-employment screening, including but not limited to identity verification and police checks, for all preferred candidates
