Applications are now invited from experienced Trade Compliance professionals for a new Trade Compliance Lead role within our Australia Sector.

The Trade Compliance Lead will form part of Commercial and Supply Chain Function within QinetiQ’s Australia Sector. The Australia Sector consists of businesses located in Australia, Germany, Canada and the UK, with this role to be primarily supporting the business units based in Australia but with flexibility to support the other QinetiQ entities within the Australia Sector as required.  The role will deliver the transformation, integration and delivery of the Trade Compliance function within Australia and will be accountable for providing a best in class Trade Compliance service for the Australian business units.

 

Working closely with the Australia Sector Head of Trade Compliance and Group Trade Compliance team, the role leads a team to provide subject matter expertise in relation to Australian, UK, US and other international export controls, directly supporting programs within Australia and in line with Group Trade Compliance Requirements. A key aspect of the role is to ensure the provision of (i) subject matter expertise in the shaping of Trade Compliance solutions in the early stages of the project/program lifecycle, (2) advice and guidance to Australian business units, and (3) first line quality assurance to ensure compliance at all times.

 

As our Trade Compliance Lead you will hold a key role in the establishment of our sector transformation and integration supply chain roadmap to ensure the alignment of the Australia Sector to wider QinetiQ Group Supply Chain processes, tools, systems and policy. With regards to location, our preference is Melbourne but we are flexible to consider applicants from other locations where a main QinetiQ office is based e.g. Brisbane, Adelaide or Canberra

In terms of the detail, in this key role you will support the Australia Sector Head of Trade Compliance by leading a team of Trade Compliance professionals within Australia to:

  • Support the development and implementation of the approved Sector transformation and integration Trade Compliance roadmap
  • Ensure the Australia Sector is capable of enacting best practice Trade Compliance processes, decision-making and export/import management in compliance with Group Trade Compliance Requirements
  • Manage all trade compliance activities within bids, programmes, business development and marketing activities across the Australian business units, and support similar activities across the Sector as required
  • Deliver high quality, innovative and intelligence led Trade Compliance activity for the Australian business units, ensuring the correct deployment of resources to meet all customer and internal requirements,
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders to identify import/export compliance requirements and develop a documented strategy during the early programme life-cycle

 

As an ideal applicant for this senior role, you will need:

  • Extensive senior level trade compliance experience gained in a global or multi-national company where you demonstrated the ability to integrate, transform and collaborate across multiple geographical locations
  • Comprehensive experience in the leading the integration and transformation of people, processes and systems across the Australian Trade Compliance function.
  • Knowledge and understanding of, and experience in hardware, software and technology export classifications under Australian and US export control regimes.
  • Ability to analyse complex business situations and advise on the impact of international export controls and provide clear instructions at all levels.
  • Knowledge of customs, freight, or logistics procedures
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and specifically previous roles in the integration and transformation programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate a broad network of relationships and influence with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • A willingness to travel, both domestic and international.
